Default Make Hero Inscriptions, Runes and Weapons Account Based

I know, I know, this has been mentioned before, but I have a new take on this.
Essentially these items are ALREADY account based, but they're a pain in the arse to organise.

I found my mesmer's heroes were ill-equipped to cope with the Realm of Torment when I got there.
My first reaction was "Urgh, more farming for hero gear".
But then I realised that as hero armour can't be destroyed, I may as well transfer the runes from my warrior's heroes to my mesmer's.
Needless to say, I also transferred their weapons.
Now this is a pain in the arse to do every time, but it saves me money and grind so I will be doing it every time now.

So let's drop the pretense ANet.
Make all of this crap account based, not character based, and make your userbase happy.
There's no excuses any more.

I'd like it if the heroes all had easy access (like a drop-down menu) to the runes and insignias unlocked on my account, or at least to the runes and insignia I've used on a hero on any one of my characters.

But I don't like the idea that each hero would be the same for each character. The most obvious example is the necro heroes - I can set them to MM (sup death, no vigors, bloodstained insig,) but I wouldn't want them set like that all the time for every character.

I rather doubt we'll see any easier way to transfer their weapons around, though, as they're so tied to the PvE inventory system.

So ...
/notsigned for making it account-based and fixed.
/signed for making it easier to to "transfer" hero stuff between characters, even if it's only runes and insignia.

/Notsigned for anything pertaining to Heroes and their armor, weapons, pets, etc.

Switching runes from one hero to another requires Superior Salvage Kits. Salvage Kits cost moniez. 400g, to be specific. Not that much. I am one (of the few) that believes that the economy is in shambles. Having a rich mofo buy a Superior Salvage Kit every time he wants his "high yield" Heroes to be equipped with "the best" will just help the economy out more. As for me and other n00bz, we'll use whatever the enemy decides to flop our way when they hack up a lung.

It doesn't require superior salvage kits at all. Someone's been feeding you misinformation.
Expert kits do the job fine, so it's hardly having a huge impact on the economy.

This whole debacle of storage and hero gear is driving me insane.
I have 10 characters, one of each class.
That's a potential of 150 heroes.
The storage required to support this amount of heroes, let alone my poor characters, is ridiculous and needs to be revised.
Then on top of this, you're expected to buy runes and gear for each and every one?
We're talking millions of gold pieces and hundreds of hours here...
That's a really cheap way of making your players continue playing your game.
It makes me feel like completely abandoning all of my other characters and just playing with the one.

And don't say that the heroes cope fine without; once you get to the Realm of Torment, your heroes need to be equipped with gear that's good enough to keep them alive.
You go outside with 3 heroes (+4 henchmen) with uninscribed armour and crappy white or blue weapons, you're just so much meat to the grinder.

Edit: And Luny, I completely agree with the idea of heroes having access to all of your unlocks from a drop down menu. They get access to all of your skills (something that your character doesn't; don't get me started on that), so why the hell not your unlocks?

I support this idea 100%

I've been working a new mesmer and I've been so reluctant to take him much further due to the 'need' for runes and max weapons for my heros. It would be nice if we had the option to "build" gear for them much like pvp characters have. At the very least heros should have access to unlocked runes.

On that note, I feel that a new system of "hero customized" weapons should be instated; what this means is a weapon created for Koss should read "customized for Koss" to keep players from creating perfect weapons for their heros and then using them for themselves.

The heroes do fine with any purple or gold drops that I find. And I also keep in mind for any future heroes I may want to equip so I hold onto drops for them as well until I can get the items to them.

The biggest draw back is cash. Many players only have enough gold to buy the necessary runes and insignias for their own armor.

I fail to see how such a change would have any negative results. If someone can think of any, please post them (in a respectful manner)

Why?
Look, at the moment, the best way to play is to get one of each set of runes / insignia / items, store them on a mule, and then add whichever set you want to whatever character's heroes you're currently playing with. Tedious, but effectively the same as having a menu selection.
You only buy the runes once because of the 100% salvage chance on hero armour, so immediately you've bypassed the market.
Keeping it like this is just being bloody-minded and awkward for the sake of it.
You may as well just add the menu system and be done with it...
